The current version 2.0 does not need OpenInventor any more, as it is based upon i4D, an animation library developed at C-LAB. Because of license agreements, we can provide the newest version of the HMS-Animation for free only to projects participating in the DFG Priority Programme 1064 "Integration von Techniken der Softwarespezifikation für ingenieurwissenschaftliche Anwendungen".
Nevertheless, a documentation of version 2.0 is publicly available here (in German).
The animation version 1.3 is based upon IShells, a Tcl shell extension providing OpenInventor classes to Tcl/Tk. IShells is used as a library that can be loaded in any Tcl/Tk shell (wish 8.0 or higher). As a result, 3D functionality is available by additional Tk commands.
Please note that you must have already installed Tcl/Tk 8.0.5 (or higher) and OpenInventor on your computer before you can install IShells: Ask your system administrator for your versions of Tcl/Tk and OpenInventor and visit the projects page of the C-LAB VIS group for detailed information about IShells. After IShells is installed on your computer, you should try running the IShell demos first.
Finally, download the animation package for the case study "Produktionstechnik". The package comes with further installation instructions, details of the animation scene and demo programs showing how to manipulate the animation (Java and C programs).
